Nerja is considered one of the cosiest and most picturesque resorts on the Costa del Sol. The miniature beaches hiding in the rocky coves, the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and the turquoise colour of the water have turned this town into one of the most popular spots on the coast.
The most famous attraction of Nerja is the Balcony of Europe. This famous panoramic spot is perched on a prominent cliff overlooking the sea and is surrounded by a magnificent palm-fringed promenade. The views of the mountains, beaches, and picturesque rocky coves are spectacular. Around Balcony of Europe is a pleasant promenade of snow-white narrow streets, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Just 5 km from the city centre is the most famous Nerja Caves in the south of Spain. At over 4 km long and covering an area of more than 140,000 m², they are one of the largest in Spain.
This amazing natural spectacle features almost every known stalactite form: bizarre formations resembling stone cascades, curtains, columns, arches, as well as images of trees and animals. The Cataclismo Hall houses the largest cave column in the world, 60 metres high, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Nerja Caves are excellent to visit thanks to their spacious halls, always comfortable temperatures and perfectly equipped walkways.
